One of Cumbria’s Euro MP’s Brian Simpson, would like to hear from local people in regard to a proposed new air service between London and the County. Normally the
Labour MEP and Transport Spokesperson would welcome any improvement in the transport links between the County and the capital, but this proposal is a little different in that it is a seaplane
operation taking off in the River Thames and landing on one of the lakes in the Lake District.“ I believe a Greek operator Air Sea Lines, who fly
seaplane services between the Greek Islands are keen to start services using adapted Twin Otter Turboprop Aircraft between London and the Lakes. Whilst I can see some advantages in
this type of service, I can also see the environmental downside, which I would welcome the views of local people.” said Mr Simpson.AirSeaLines believe they can offer a good service and conform to environmental standards. They would also like to do services to Wales as
well as Cumbria. They claim to be in discussion with local stakeholders and businesses, but as yet, no firm plans seemed to have emerged. If you would like to have your say on this or any other issues, you can contact Brian Simpson at: Lakeside, Alexandra Park, Prescot Road, St
