Labour MEPs are calling for transport air ticket prices
Labour MEPs are calling for transparent air ticket pricesLabour Euro MEPs have slammed
airlines for deliberately misleading passengers with headline prices that don't exist. Today the European Parliament will debate the current pricing practices of some
airlines. The European Parliament will vote on Wednesday on proposals, which will strengthen the right of air passengers to have clear and full
information on the price they will finally pay when booking an air ticket.Brian Simpson ActingTransport Spokesman for the European
Parliamentary Socialist Group, said,"This is great news for holidaymakers, now when you spot a bargain flight
online you’ll be able to see the real price up front. Whether you’re planning a last minute trip or booking ahead, you’ll be able to compare deals quickly and easily and know exactly how much of your
money is going on taxes and charges"."It is time that consumers are clearly informed about the choices they make, when booking a flight
online the price they see must be the price they pay."Under the proposals, airlines will have to provide the general public with comprehensive
information, including when booking tickets on the internet, on their ticket prices. Quoted fares must include all applicable taxes, non-avoidable charges, surcharges and fees known at the time of
publication (e.g. taxes, air traffic control charges or duties, fuel and other costs of the airline or the airport operator).
