Tory/Lib coalition cut funding for local stations

PLANS SCRAPPED FOR LOCAL RAILWAY STATIONS. Local Euro MP and Chairman of the European Parliament’s Transport Committee Brian Simpson speaking after the new Tory / Lib Dem Government announced they were to scrap the improvements to both Warrington Bank Quay Station and Wigan North Western Station. Brian said “As somebody who has campaigned for improvements to Railway Stations, I am very disappointed that the plans we had and which were given the go ahead by the Labour Government, have now been scrapped by this incoming unholy alliance of the Tories and Lib Dems. We need modern Stations both at Warrington Bank Quay and Wigan North Western and the people of Warrington and Wigan are to be denied this by this new Government.
